This week, I'm taking it back to Puerto Rico and presenting you the newest hit from one of my favorite duo's from the Reggaeton genre Zion y Lennox, and their recent hit "Pierdo La Cabeza".  Yes, it might surprise you that I'm picking this type of sound but the fact of the matter is that variety is the spice of life. Growing up a "rockera" in Puerto Rico, there was always an eternal struggle between my friends and I when it came to what to put on the radio. They wanted to hear Daddy Yankee, Alexis & Fido and Zion y Lennox.  I wanted to hear Circo, Puya, La Secta, Cultura Profétca and that never happened, so my ear gave in and learned to make friends with the dembow inspired beats that have evolved today to the sound of Reggaeton.

Among those voices and beats my ears made peace with were Zion y Lennox- "La Z y La L", a duo that were among the first to combine true vocal harmonies (Zion) with more in your face rhymes and thicker vocals (Lennox) and that now returns with their album "Motivan2" the sequel to their now classic album "Motivando A La Yal", an album that was blasting in car speakers from coast to coast through our 100 x 35 miles of land back in the day.

Gearing up now for their sold out show at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, Zion y Lennox are back with "Pierdo La Cabeza" a song with a simple hook that weaves a cohesive progression of ideas strung together with a beat that make for a fun and *shocker* cute track from the duo.  Granted, cute may not be the word these guys want associated with them but, I can't help but feel like I'm back in my friend's Toyota Tercel without C and 6 more people (how the hell did we manage?!) cruising around the city at night looking for a fun spot to hang out.

The lyrics are an ode to a crush, to that love that you want to celebrate and let the world know how you feel.  The kicker here is that the beat and electronic notes give it an updated take on the Zion y Lennox sound of circa 2003, and in my book, that's always a fun time.  Give it a listen and step out of your comfort zone, sometimes you might be surprised and if not, hey, at least you gave it a shot.  #YouOughtaKnow
