Tango like you've never seen it before
On Thursday, October 16th I saw Tango Lovers Company the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC. Having lived for years in Buenos Aires myself, I’m no stranger to a good tango show. I recently wrote an article for Kesta on Tango Lovers Company, giving readers an idea of what they could expect from Tango Lovers, as well as giving details about their upcoming performance, so naturally, I was anxious to see the show for myself. Fortunately for me, their generous producer gave me front row tickets to see the show so I was up close and personal with all of the action. The show was a real treat, and unlike any tango show I had ever seen before. It was powerful, sensual, and breathtaking, and impossible not to feel the passion and the emotion in the performance. I had no idea tango could be so hot, and having Marcos Ayala, the gorgeous artistic director and choreographer, and audience favorite in Argentina’s Dancing with the Stars, as one of the shows main dancers didn’t hurt either!
The performance also featured a first rate orchestra, directed by Grammy award nominee,Uruguayan Gustavo Casenave, 2014 World Tango Dance Champions, Manuela Rossi & Juan Malizi, and powerhouse singer and Tango Artist of the Year, Alfredo Lerida, who gave a dynamic performance.
The Tango Lovers Company show was everything I had hoped for and more. All of the dancers were extremely talented and gave beautiful and captivating performances. It had something for everyone. There was even a male duet which reminded me of John & Andrew, a hot, salsa dancer duo from Season 9 of America's Got Talent, who I saw perform live at this year’s DC Bachata Congress.
All in all, Tango Lovers Company put on an incredible, sexy, and unforgettable show. I was mesmerized and couldn’t take my eyes off them for the entire performance. I will definitely be going back to see them again the next time they are in town!
