DJ and producer Camilo Lara,an Indie Music
Award winner, is the one man dynamo behind the electronic music project,
the Mexican Institute of Sound. M.I.S is part of a growing Mexican
electronic movement, mixing mariachi and cumbia with hip-hop, rock and
thunderous beats—all with just his computer, his imagination, and his
collection of more than 45,000 vinyl albums. With critical acclaim in
publications like Spin and Rolling Stone, M.I.S’s Indie Music Award
winning third release, Soy Sauce, with almost entirely original songs
recorded with a live band and vocals, is being hailed for pushing
eclecticism to a new level.
